Miscellaneous Scientific Facts in The Quran

1) The Apostle of Allah (Sallallaho alaihi wasallem) was asked about the Heaven, he said, "Every living being who entered the Heaven will never die, will be blessed with eternal comforts, his garments will never wear out, his youth will never decay." He was asked about its buildings. He said, "They are made of a brick of gold and brick of silver in mortor with odor of musk, and its gravels are pearls and rubies and its soil (smells) saffron. (Dur Al Manthur)

2) The Prophet (Sallallaho alaihi wasallem) said, "The soil of the Heaven is white, its fields have camphor rocks with sand-dunes of musk around them. It has ever flowing rivers. All the people of the Heaven, the foremost and last ones, will assemble for a (general) introduction with each other. Allah will send an air of mercy with (smell) of musk. The man will go back from the assembly to his wife, she will find him more elegant in beauty. She will say to him. You leave me admiring and now I am taken aback by your handsomeness. (Dur Al Manthur)

3) The Apostle of Allah (Sallallaho alaihi wasallem) said, "Allah has fenced the Heaven with a brick of gold and a brick of silver, and gushed forth in it the rivers, and planted trees, when the angels saw its beauty and flowers they said," Blessed for you (the dwellers) Kings' palaces. (Dur Al Manthur)

4) Abu Huraira narrated, the Apostle of Allah (sallallaho alaihi wasallem) said: 'The faces of the first group who enters the Heaven will shine like the full moon of the 14th night. They won't urinate, won't spit, won't blow their noses, won't excrete. Their utensils and combs will be of gold and silver, their braziers will be of agar (Aloes wood) and their gifts are musk. Every one of them will have two wives, (they will be so excelling in beauty) that he will see their bone narrow through their flesh. Their will never be any opposition between them and their hearts will never bear any animosity, but beat together. They glorify Allah at the break of day and the fall of night. (Dur al Manthur)

5) A man came to the Apostle of Allah (Sallallaho alaihi wasallem) and said, "O Aba al Qasim you say that the people of the Heaven will eat and drink." He replied, "By the one Who owns my life. Every man among them will be given the strength of one hundred men in eating, drinking, copulation and passion. He will feel to emaciate but the Heaven is free from defiling and harmful matter." The Apostle of Allah said, "His emaciation will be through sweat smelly musk that will be emaciation for his belly. (Dur Al Manthur)

6) Zaid bin Arqam narrated, the Prophet (sallallaho alaihi wasallem) said. "No doubt their urine and sexual emaciation is sweat musk coming out of their pores and flowing to their feet." (Al Tabrani)

7) Abu Saeed Al Khudri narrated. The Prophet of Allah (sallallaho alaihi wasallem) said. "The people of Heaven will copulate their wives and they will regain their virginity. (Al Tabrani)

In giving the exegesis of the revelation under citation, I have referred to above only such traditions of the Prophet, which relate to the scientific facts causing eternal life in the Heaven.

The Quran also at many places has specified the luxurious amenities of the Heaven. God willing I will discuss only such facts briefly which lead to the eternal life of the Heaven and confirm to our science.

Health means soundness of body and mind. Disease means the impairment of the health or normal functioning of an organism or the failure of an organism to respond adaptively to its environment. Now we shall see the exogenous and endogenous causes of disease and go through the Quran and Sunnah to find if they are eliminated in the Heaven.

Among the exogenous causes, first we take the physical factors. These include the mechanical injury and non-ionizing energy. The Prophet (sallallaho alaihi wasallem) said that no danger whatsoever exists in the Heaven. (Osama bin Zaid/Al Baihaqi). That is to say, the question of any injury or fracture and burn doesn't arise.

The chemical factors of disease include metallic poisons, inorganic poisons, and alcohols etc. As for metallic poisons, the Quran said that the utensils of the people of the Heaven will be of gold and silver. (43/71, and 76/15-16) These metals do not carry any corrosion and hence no poisoning.

A major causative agent for a large number of diseases is bacteria or micro-organism. Let us see if this organism is found in the Heaven. The Quran said:

A similitude of the Garden, which the righteouses are promised: There are rivers of water unpolluted and river of milk of unchanging taste and rivers of wine delicious to the drinkers, and rivers of honey pure and clear, therein for them is every kind of fruit, with pardon from their Lord. (47/15)

We know it for certain that existence of bacteria pollutes water but the Heaven has a rivers with water incorruptible. It means there is no existence of microorganisms of any kind. Similarly, we know that the taste of milk changes due to the presence of the tubercle bacilli. The Quran told us that in the Heaven there are rivers of milk of unchanging tastes. That means that the Heaven is free from the water borne diseases and the milk borne diseases. Further, the wine in Heaven will never cause intoxication. (56/19 and 37/47) Therefore, the Heaven will have no disease whatsoever out of intoxication. (See Alcoholism)

As for honey it provides a wonderful food, and is used as preserver of medicine among Arab Physicians and in the treatment of quite few diseases. God mentioned it's quality as a medicine to cure in verse 69 Surah 16. The pure and clear honey does not contaminate.

Moreover, the soil of the Heaven is quite different from the soil of the earth. It smells saffron and its fields have camphor rocks and sand dunes of musk. (See Tradition 1 & 2 above) Camphor is well known for its medicinal value, antiseptic quality and as a repellant of creatures. Further, the drinks in Heaven will have the mixture of camphor. (76/5)

It may be said that the human excretions produce bacteria, as such, how the existence of the bacteria can be eliminated? It is preceded in the tradition 4 and 5 that the people of the Heaven "Won't urinate, won't spit, won't blow their noses and won't excrete. Their emaciation will be in shape of sweet smelling musk as such the question of any bacteria does not arise.

Finally we had to say that Allah did not leave any room whatsoever for any organism to survive in the Heaven.

Quite few diseases are caused by radiation and severe cold but the Heaven is not a place for radiation or severe cold. The Quran said:

They will find there neither (heat of) sun nor bitter cold. (76/13)

It is said there are several dusts that have local action on the respiratory tract and cause pulmonary diseases. The soil of the heaven is so arranged to smell saffron and full of greenery everywhere and the open places will have gravel of the pearl and rubies. There are many traditions, which tell us that the deepening shades of the trees will run hundreds of miles enriched with their flowering beauty.

Many diseases are caused due to the nutritional deficiency. The Heaven is a place with plenty to eat. Allah said:

It is (vouchsafed) unto thee thou hungriest not therein nor art naked. And thou thirstiest not therein nor art exposed to the sun's heat. (20/118-119)

Few diseases are caused due to over eating. But whatever the people of the heaven eat in recreation will emaciate as sweat through their pores smelling musk. God said:

They are watered with a cup Whereof the mixture is of ginger. (76/17)

We know the ginger is digestive and used in the treatment of flatulence and colic. That is to say that the people of the Heaven will have the drinks having a natural tendency of digestion.

The endogenous diseases are those, which are inherited. These diseases are restricted to this world. The world of Heaven shall never be a birthplace for any one.

Abu Saeed al Khudri narrated, the Prophet (sallallaho alaihi wasallem) explaining the verse, 'There for them are pure wives' said: They are free of menstruation, excretion, expectoration, and spitting." (Al Hakim, Ibn Mardoya)

Ibn Kathir quoted a famous long tradition of trumpet in explanation to the verse under citation. The Apostle of Allah said, "... (every) man will be wedded to 72 wives whom Allah had created. The two wives will be among the children of Adam.

They will have the preference over the others due to their worship to Allah (the other seventy are the ones created in Heaven). He will enter to the one of the two in the room embedded with rubies on a bed made of gold and embellished with pearls, (describing her beauty the Prophet said) She will be dressed in seventy pairs of raiment all in gleaming sarcenet. He will put his hand in between her shoulders. Then he will see it placed from in front of her chest through her raiment's skin and flesh. He will see the bone narrow of her legs... while he will copulate with her, non of them will feel weary, and every time he goes to her, he will find her virgin, his organ won't languish, nor she will complain in her vagina, but that there is no male or female semen..."

It is evident from the above that the ladies of the heaven are made pure of every thing which may lead to their pregnancy.

Abdullah Yusuf Ali in his commentary (all editions printed before 1410 H. i.e. since 1934 to 1989) has renounced all the traditions of the Prophet (sallallaho alaihi wasallem) which tell us about the sexual enjoyment of the people of the Heaven. He in his footnote No.5058 wrote, "There is no question of sex in heaven." He in his footnote No.44 writes, "Then there is companionship. If sex is suggested, its physical association is at once negated by the addition of the word 'Mutahharatun' pure and holy."

A.Yusuf Ali gave a very strange interpolation of the word 'Mustahhara' which is quite against the Quran itself. It said:

Allah loveth those who make themselves pure. (IX-108)

A.Yusuf Ali himself translated the word 'Mutahhara', he said: The word means pure in body, mind and heart (his note no.1358). Doesn't a pure man have a physical association with his wife? Is sex is something impure?

The answer is No. The word 'Mutahhara' means sex and everything, which is within the limits of the shariat (Islamic law).

Secondly, the word 'Zawwaja' means wedded. The Quran has used this word on three places in the same meaning. I quote here Pickthall along with A.Yusuf Ali's translation: PICKTHALL A.YUSUF ALI

We gave her unto thee in marriage. We joined her in marriage to thee (33/37)

And We shall wed them unto fair ones And We shall join them to companions. (44/54)

And We wed them unto fair ones And We shall join then to companions (52/20)

It may be seen from the above that at first place A.Yusuf Ali wrote the meaning 'joined her in marriage', and on the other two places, he wrote' join them to companions'. The word 'zawwaja' is a verb, it means to marry or to wed, to join in marriage makes sense, but join them to companions is rather twisting of the translation. The rule of translation is that when we have an equivalent, we write it, and if we don't have an equivalent, we hunt for the equivalent.

When the Arabic text referred to the Prophet as in (a) above, Abdullah.Yusuf Ali translated 'joined her in marriage' but when the text referred to the 'Hur' (ladies in Heaven), he wrote 'We shall join them to companions'. This he did to corroborate his own interpolation against sex negating the Quran and Sunnah, Whereas Pichthall wrote, 'We shall wed them. Wedding makes halal (praise worthy) what was haram (blame worthy) before marriage. Do we marry only to look at?

Allah will wed the people of the Heaven with two beautiful lustrous ladies in Heaven from among the children of Adam and 70 Hur for full enjoyment, as we wed here to enjoy in this world.

Thirdly, if we have any word from the Prophet (sallallaho alaihi wasallem) as an explanation of the text of the Quran, we outright reject all who give an interpolation other than sunnah. That is why I have written that his translation and commentary focuses his own opinion. (See Abdullah.Yusuf Ali & Qadiyanis). He is the one who attempted upon the Muslim to divert them from sunnah and opposed Islam in its main beliefs. This proves the Bohras have a different Islam. The traditions of the Prophet inform us that the people of the Heaven will have intercourse with their wives in the Heaven. Imam Al Seouti has cited them in his 'Dul Al Manthur' in the explanation of the verse 2/25, and Ibn Kathir referred few of them in his 'Tafsir' of 56/36-37.

This is the human nature bestowed to them by Allah, Who will preserve it even in the Heaven, which is a place for his countless bounties as a reward to the believers for their obedience to Him and His Prophet Muhammad (sallallaho alaihi wasallem). No doubt, the Heaven is a place of indescribable bliss for the believers who will eternally live therein.

Allah the most Benevolent the most Merciful sent his Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaho alaihi wasallem) to the mankind. His advent was in the ignorance age. The science was the word unknown. The medicine was limited to empiricism. The sick were maltreated. The death took its toll from infants, youth and old all alike. The source of the disease was a matter unfolded. Eat, drink and be merry was the motto. They ate to their fancy. The harms of over eating were undisclosed. Over drinking was something to boast upon but its disastrous effects on the health were unrevealed. They drank the water and used milk but they both borne diseases were a matter un-discerned. A sect of people worshipped sun. They called it sun god, but it never struck to them that its radiation brings ailments. Cleanliness of body and environment was never thought upon.

The Prophet Muhammad (sallallaho alaihi wasallem) moved in that ignorant society. He taught them the Book and wisdom. (3/164). The Book is the Quran and the wisdom is what Allah enlightens upon him. The first injunction he gave to his followers was the cleanliness of the body and washing of the private parts after every toilet. He made bath compulsory on women after their menstruation and on both after every copulation. He ordered the clothes to be free form all strains of blood, wound-pus, urine, stool, vomit and other natural impurities. He requested the cleaning of the teeth by a siwak (31) and ordered ablution before prayers. He told the Muslim not to eat to their appetites but divide stomach into three parts, 1/3rd for eating, 1/3rd for water and the last one third for the air to pass. He told the method of slaying the animals, which had in it a great wisdom for the human health. (See The Quranic Way of Slaying the Animals) He banned the use of alcohol. (see Alcoholism) He prohibited the use of water which has changed in taste or colour. He stopped the use of the fermented drinks. He forbade the faithful to throw the rubbish on the streets or near the house of their neighbour. He told the people that cleanliness is the part of faith.

He encouraged the physical exercises and war exercises and ran himself with his wife Aesha (radiallah anha) the mother of the believers. He encouraged the ladies to attend the wounded and fight. Umme Amara's fight against the infidels is the living example of it.

He advised the people to keep away from the sun as it brings ailments.

Thus, we see that the Prophet (sallallaho alaihi wasallem) worked out a very clean atmosphere, which could guarantee health in those days of scientific ignorance. All these directives did come out of the wisdom that Allah gave him and they do confirm to the modern scientific thought.

After looking to the Quranic facts given under the caption 'The Quranic Science Leading to the Eternal Life', one has to acknowledge that, the Quran is the Book of Allah and He is the Omniscient of all things. It is a very hard fact that the bacterial diseases were utterly unknown in the 7th century and mentioning of such facts, which eliminate the possibility of bacteria, is a miraculous description of the Quran and no doubt, the people of the Heaven will enjoy the eternal blissful life.

31. The Prophet (Sallallaho alaihi wasallem) enjoined upon the believers to use siwak. It is a stick used as a toothbrush which is obtained from Salvadora Persica that grows around Makkah and Middle East. In a test, the Dental Center and Research Laboratory for Medicinal Plant Kuwait found it antibacterial. A very large number of diseases find their way into the human system by way of mouth.
